Welcome DCA colleagues and friends to the 2011-2012 school year!

I am extremely honored and proud to be serving as DCA President. I would like to take this opportunity and express my sincere appreciation to all DCA’s past presidents for their wisdom, passion and dedication to the counseling profession. I would like to personally thank Ms. Ana Koufopolous, DCA President, 2010-2011, a compassionate leader who shared her knowledge, patience and understanding with all of us. In addition, I am grateful to the Executive Board for their countless hours of service, dedication and commitment to our professional organization.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you, collaborating and networking at various DCA events scheduled such as multicultural dinners, community service, and other professional events. These events offer the ideal environment to share new ideas for the advancement of the counseling profession. Please visit our website: www.dadecounselingassn.com for additional information about our full 2011-2012 calendar of events.

Let us acknowledge that this will be one of the toughest years we’ve ever experienced due to the financial difficulties we are facing. Inevitably, change will come as it always does and at that moment it is imperative that we pull together as a unified front and continue to display our true professionalism in the guidance of our students and their families! Keep in mind it’s not what happens; it is how we react to it. Furthermore, Ms. Virginia Wolf states it clearly: “Arrange whatever pieces come your way”. Let us maximize our efforts to assist and guide students, staff, and administration so that we may have a successful school year.

Sincerely,

Corina P. Mills
President
